And again she pulls a lot of threads in the bigger conflict so why is she always so absent from the story? There is so much potential that is never used in this book or the last. Why is she never trying to win her daughter back? She does not even attempt to gaslight her into coming back to her. I love her as a villian, she gives me major Mother Gothel vibes and I would love to see that more play out. I would have liked to see his mystery set up a bit more in the first half.Īnd like the second book Demeter was way too absent for me. Instead Helen went full pro-triad over night and Theseus did not appear until half-way through the book. Like start with a meeting at Olymp with Zeus not immediatley wanting to bless the marriage of Hades and Persephone and interweave that with the Triad plot points, and in there slowly the changing of Helen. What I really liked about the plot though, where the things with Triad, I only would have liked to see it structured differently. And then we do not meet any Olympian until way after the halfway-point of the book.Īfter the first third I was so confused I thought I had read the blurb wrong. Just I was looking forward to finally meeting all the Olympian gods of this world and seeing how Persephone would handle it and how she would interact with her mother. Because you can't end a book on a cliffhanger and then do not address it at all, like it didn't happen, especially not if you write it in the blurb like it is going to be the main conflict.Īnd do not misunderstand me, I don't mind if the main conflict changes throughout the story. As again we do not start this book where we left off and rather have to read 2/3s of it to even get to that point, which is frustrating to me.

And starting with the second book that got lost somehow. What I noticed while thinking on it a bit, is that in the first book the story was structured and paced very good. After the second book was very boring, I am glad that this book picked up the pace again, as I love the characters Hades and Persephone a lot.Ĭompared to the first one, it is still weaker though and it is again because of the pacing of the plot.
